About The Shaftesbury Theatre (Judy Dench Theatre)

The Shaftesbury theatre is a large West End venue seating 1390 people over three levels: the stalls, royal circle and grand circle. The Shaftesbury is widely regarded as one of the most opulent and ornate theatres in London, with the auditorium decorated in rich golds and reds. Located on Shaftesbury Avenue itself, the venue is just around the corner from the Dominion theatre and easily accessed via all forms of public transport.

The Shaftesbury Theatre will be renamed the Judi Dench Theatre in honour of Dame Judi Dench. The renaming is set to take place in February 2027.

Puppet fun!
So glad it has come back to the West End and I finally got to see it. It lived up to all my expectations. The show is so fun, rude and brilliant.

Broad minded? Not pc? This shows for you.
Cartoon characters and puppets can get away with a lot. Amongst the mayhem and madness, Avenue Q residents make some great observations about life, love and human nature while keeping the audience laughing and toe tapping along. It may be rude and not politically correct but it’s damn funny and full of heart.

Irreverent and very funny
Great show. I loved the way the puppets could say far more outrageous things than people can. I'd be cautious about attending with anyone who could be easily offended, but I'd definitely recommend it if you're not easily offended.
